Models for courage are not always human. This one is a rabbit, a rabbit who herds sheep. Seriously.
I’ve owned a trained Border Collie. I recognize the moves, the eye, the planning, the quick responses. This rabbit really does know how to herd sheep and does it well. Maybe Champis learned by watching the dogs on the farm owned by Dan Westman and Paula Lundberg. However the little guy learned his skills, he is a pint-sized champion.
On Gardsbacken’s Blog, Champis is perfectly described as, “a great heart of goodness”. And if you don’t think herding sheep qualifies as goodness, read the blog and learn how Champis saved a rooster from one of the rams. The site is in Swedish so use your browser’s translation plug-in to read the full story.
There’s a lot of love in this blog and a lot of heart in Champis. Millions of people have already learned about the brave little rabbit through the blog. Stories like this one from northern Sweden make the world a brighter place to be, and they give me hope.
